Privacy Policy for skimmIQ

1. Introduction

skimmIQ (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information in connection with our mobile application “skimmIQ” (the “App”).

2. What We Collect

We designed the App so that it does not require personally identifiable information (“Personal Data”) to function. We do not request your real name, email address, phone number, or location.

However, the App processes the following pseudonymous and gameplay-related data for specific features:

• Leaderboard (optional): If you choose to submit your result to the Leaderboard, we store:
  • a nickname you provide (it can be any alias),
  • your solve time, move count, selected difficulty, layout, reward tier (Black/Silver/Gold/Platinum), and the date of the result,
  • a pseudonymous leaderboard identifier hash to prevent fraud and associate multiple results from the same device/app installation. On Android this hash is derived locally from ANDROID_ID + package name + app salt; on iOS it is derived locally from an app UUID stored in Keychain + app salt. We do not send or store the raw source identifiers on our server.
• Premium pool state (anti-abuse, non-personal): For non-Premium accounts we keep a server-side counter of your remaining premium points linked to a pseudonymous anonymous account ID (Firebase Authentication UID).

None of the above data is used to directly identify you, and you can use any nickname you like.

3. How We Use the Data

• Leaderboard: to rank and display submitted results and to group multiple results from the same device/app installation (via the pseudonymous hash).
• Premium pool enforcement: to maintain fair access to premium actions in the free tier and prevent abuse.
• App reliability: limited operational diagnostics to keep core features working properly.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device information and use identifiers as described in Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We use Firebase services (including Anonymous Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Remote Config) to support premium-point state and related app functionality.

On our website contact form, we use Google reCAPTCHA to protect against spam and abuse. Starting April 2, 2026, reCAPTCHA data is processed by Google as a data processor for our use of the service, in line with Google Cloud contractual terms (including the Cloud Data Processing Addendum and Service Specific Terms for reCAPTCHA).

For in-app purchases, we use Apple App Store (StoreKit) on iOS and Google Play Billing on Android. Purchase processing is handled by Apple/Google; we use purchase status data to unlock premium features.

5. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for users of all ages, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. Leaderboard nicknames are user-chosen aliases and should not include real names or contact details. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will promptly remove it.

6. Security

We employ reasonable technical and organizational measures (e.g., cryptographic signatures and server-side checks) to protect the data we process. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Your Choices & Retention

• Leaderboard is optional: If you do not submit your result, no leaderboard record is created.
• Nickname control: You may choose any alias. If you want a leaderboard entry removed or corrected, contact us with details (nickname, approximate date/time, difficulty/layout/reward, and—if possible—the in-app session code).
• Premium pool: The server-side pool is required for the fair-use free tier. It is stored pseudonymously and used solely to enforce pool limits.
• Retention: We retain leaderboard entries for as long as they remain relevant to the ranking. Premium pool state is kept as long as needed to provide the service and prevent abuse.

8. International Transfers

The App and our servers may be hosted in jurisdictions different from your own. By using the App, you understand your data may be processed in those jurisdictions under their applicable laws.

9. Cookies

On skimmiq.com, we use essential cookies needed for secure site operation (for example, session and security/CSRF handling).

Some external website features (embedded YouTube video and Google reCAPTCHA in the contact form) may require optional third-party cookies. These features are disabled by default until you choose to allow them in the cookie banner or via "Cookie settings".

You can change this decision at any time using the cookie controls available on the website.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post updates in the App and revise the “Effective Date”. Your continued use of the App signifies acceptance of the updated Policy.
